Well it is that time of year again. Time for decorations, presents, and grandma's apple pie. Many of you will be traveling various distances to various relatives to celebrate Christmas as a family. Others will be joining friends and co-workers for various Christmas parties. You know, this time of year is one of my favorites. No matter what your beliefs are there is just something about Christmas that makes it special. There is something very unique about this holiday. No...it is not that we selflessly give gifts to one another. No...it is not that family members travel far and wide to be together. The thing that makes this time of year special is this is the time of year we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As many say, "He is the reason for the season." This is also a time of year where He is most forgotten. Jesus Christ, the purpose and object of celebration of Christmas, is lost in the midst of wrapping paper, decorations, Christmas cards, and warm apple pie. It reminds me of the Scripture in Luke 2:7, when speaking of Mary placing Jesus in a manger it said, "because there was no room for them in the inn." This phrase is quite interesting. There was no room for the Savior. This holiday, do not forget the reason we celebrate Christmas. Instead of starting the morning off with tearing up gifts, maybe start a tradition of reading the story of the birth of Jesus Christ from the book of Luke. Maybe pray with your family and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Whatever you do, always remember to keep Christ in X-mas.
